"Love people and make them tasty FOOD."

Heather's StoryPassion has always driven me to strive for excellence in all I do. Twenty years ago, I decided to drastically change the way I ate. I was determined because I wanted to feel nourished as opposed to comatose after meals. Raised as a southern girl in Kentucky and North Carolina, I was surrounded by an abundance of fried food and chain restaurants. Such a diet landed me in a doctor’s office at the age of nineteen. Confronted with the recommendation to take medication indefinitely, I had the revelation that food should make me feel good. I committed myself to a macrobiotic-vegan diet for three years, which changed the way I felt and boosted my health.
In my early twenties, I moved to Northern California and discovered the bounty of local and seasonal foods readily available. This exposure allowed for me to integrate more wellness into my fifteen year career as a massage therapist and yoga instructor. I later returned to school and obtained a degree in biology with an emphasis in botany and plant physiology. My knowledge in human and plant physiology added another level of awareness to my philosophy around eating well and my desire to pass this lifestyle on to others. |
